Treatment Cost & Fee Policy

All work related to a case is billable, including, but not limited to, diagnostic evaluations, administration, scoring and interpretation of psychological tests, consultations with attorneys and/or other individuals who have information relevant to a case, the review of records, discovery, or other evaluations, preparation and record review prior to a deposition or court testimony, and travel time to offsite locations, such as court, attorney offices, correctional facilities, schools, or home visits. Fees for forensic services are established at the time of referral by means of a formal Retainer Agreement. In most cases, a retainer is requested prior to beginning a forensic evaluation, and the balance is typically paid in full prior to release of the report. There are some exceptions made to this policy on a case by case basis, depending on who is responsible for payment. (For example, if a government agency or child protection services are responsible for payment, then the evaluation can proceed with written approval for the estimated cost of the evaluation.) Any unused portion of the retainer will be returned at the conclusion of the case.

Psychological services are not covered under OHIP. However, our services are eligible for coverage under extended health care plans. If you have a health care plan it is recommended you check with your plan provider to determine the extent of your coverage and if a physician’s referral is required in order to quality for benefits.

Clients and attorneys acknowledge that payment of fees is for the professional services provided, and, as a psychologist, I do not work on a contingency basis.

FREE CONSULTATION:

Dr.Kalia is available for a free inital telephone consultation. This helps prospective referrals including attorneys to get a better sense of his work and approach. It also allows him to screen clients to see if he is the most appropriate clinician for them. If a particular problem or issue is beyond the competence of his expertise, he provides referrals to other professionals.
